British Phonographic Industry

British Phonographic Industry is the British recorded music industry's Trade association. It runs the BRIT Awards; is home to the Mercury Prize; co-owns the Official Charts Company with the Entertainment Retailers Association; and awards UK music sales through the BRIT Certified Awards. BPI promotes recorded music in the UK & worldwide and champions the rights and interests of over 500 record labels and associate members, including independents across the UK and Universal Music UK, Sony Music Entertainment UK and Warner Music UK. BPI membership accounts for around 85 per cent of the recorded music consumed in the UK the worlds third largest music market while in 2018 British artists claimed one in every eight albums sold around the world.
