EA, the Association of National Accreditation Bodies in Europe, has published a statement on UKAS’ member of the organization (and in turn the recognition of certificates issued under UKAS accreditation). It states that EA has revised its Articles of Association and introduced the option of a transition period, which allows UKAS to remain a member for two further years. During this transition period EA will analyse together with UKAS the results of the negotiation between the EU and the UK, with a view to a future revision to the EA membership criteria that allows for UKAS to remain an ongoing EA member. That means also that UKAS will continue to be peer evaluated by EA in order to maintain its MLA signatory status.
